However the pride of Darwin cricket is the Marrara Stadium. The most noteworthy of the outdoor stadiums in the whole of the Northern Territory, the 15,000-capacity Marrara Stadium had been accorded Test ground status after it went through a multi-million dollar refurbishment to bring in features and facilities of an international class cricketing stadium.
The Marrara Stadium has hosted its first test (between Australia and Bangladesh) in July 2003 and its first One-Day International, as part of the same series, in August the same year. The stadium also plays host to a number of other Darwin sports like Australian Rules Football and rugby.

Damien Martyn, the right-handed middle order batsman, a well-known Australia international cricketer was born in Darwin. He however moved to Perth at the age of three after the devastating Cyclone Tracy wrecked Darwin in 1974.
